Would you like to learn how the Better Local Care project is improving health care in the new forest?
Would you like to hear, from the people in charge, how the project is shaping care in the area, how it has helped people over the last year and what our hopes and plans for the project are for the coming year?
The evening will run from 6.00pm till 8.00pm on Wednesday 8 June and will include presentations by Dr Nigel Watson and Dr Sally Johnson who have been instrumental in the Better Local Care project in the New Forest area.
Better Local Care is our partnership between local NHS and care organisations, GPs and charities and it works to find a better way to plan and deliver care in Hampshire.
Over the last year in the New Forest, Better Local Care has led on a number of developments, including the opening of The Practice at Lymington New Forest our musculoskeletal and pharmacy pilots and our work with e-Consultation, which allows patients to explore their symptoms and sign posts them to the appropriate place to seek help.
Dr Nigel Watson, Chair of South West Hampshire Better Local Care region will be speaking at the event and has been vital in helping to set the care agenda for the region. He said: “Over the last year we have been able to do a number of things that we are very proud of. The partnership with New Forest Health Care and The Practice at Lymington New Forest Hospital has meant we can offer seven days a week care from 8am till 8pm. Patients with musculoskeletal pain can now get direct access to a specialist at the Arnewood Practice meaning they don’t have to travel as far for consultations. And we are also trying to use technology to improve care, having started the e-Consultation pilot which aims to use technology to help patients by offering advice and management of many common illnesses.
“We have been very busy so it would be great to share what we have learned this past year as well as what we have planned for the future”
Better Local Care will always look to improve out-of-hospital care through innovative and pioneering partnerships with GPs, NHS & care organisations, voluntary groups, charities & others. This is a great opportunity to hear how we are doing this in your area and what are plans are for the future.
