Learning and sharing visit from New Zealand

New Zealand trip - better local care

At the end of May, Justine Thorpe and Liz Stockley from New Zealand visited Better Local Care and our neighbouring MCP(My Life a Full Life) to look at the different concepts being applied to evolve health and social care in the community. While here they visited the Southampton hub, "The Practice" at Lymington New Forest Hospital and My Life a Full Life on the Isle of Wight.

They were particularly impressed with the roles within the extended primary care teams in providing care closer to home, a concept which is fairly new in New Zealand. The joined up working with the voluntary sector on the Isle of Wight was also found to be very impressive. Following their visit, Justine and Liz both offered to reciprocate any information or visits. To find out more, please contact enquiries@betterlocalcare.org.uk
